18 Strangest North Korean Websites

Hey guys what’s up it’s Charlie here and
today we’re going to be looking at the 18 strangest North Korean websites North
Korea is a very very mysterious place they have very tight and secure
censorship but recently North Korea accidentally leaked it’s only websites
the domain for North Korea is dot KP kind of like how in America they have
dot-com but there are only 28 websites under dot KP and only 18 of them are
accessible outside of North Korea and those are the ones we’re going to look
at today but before I get taken away to some work camp for making this video why
not subscribe and press the notification bill to coming in at number 10 we have
friend friend sounds like a pretty friendly if not generic name for a
website you can access this site at friend comm dot KP and amazingly this is
the only social networking site in North Korea their slogan is reverence of all
people voice of praise not exactly too catchy and the website looks very bare
the logo is two doves flying around the world with the word friend on it but if
you want to go unfriend and find some North Korean friends then you may be out
of luck that’s because internet is not generally accessible in North Korea only
high-level officials and wealthy people in North Korea actually have access to
the Internet some universities also have small
strictly monitored computers apparently three million people in North Korea do
have access to some form of internet but this is mainly done through something
called Nina run this is a modified version of Firefox it only shows one
thousand websites out of the entire Internet this means North Koreans can’t
see much material made outside of North Korea so don’t expect to find many users
on friend at all all I can really see on it is official posts from the friend
administrators and bizarrely all of the posts seem to be about Kim jong-un next
up is social science this website can be accessed through caste org KP
is the website for the Korean Association of social scientists this
appears to be an education website for school and adult education courses as
you can see in this version which has been translated to English it’s very
very bare and barren there’s a photograph of one of the
buildings found in Pyongyang North Korea and it talks about how happy everyone
seems to be in North Korea but we know that’s not actually the case but now for
the creepy part of the social science website this website is likely used by
students of social science in North Korea these people will then go on to
produce North Korean propaganda social science is the scientific study of human
society and social relationships this means people who are learning this stuff
will go on to control the masses in North Korea so likely the people who are
responsible for all of the propaganda in North Korea are operating and using this
website next up is official site it’s no secret that every country in the world
has their own official website for example the us’s is usa.gov and the
United Kingdom’s is gov dot UK well North Korea is no different in this
regard as they have something named Nina rock on KP that’s right it’s named after
the web browser used in North Korea and is the official North Korean government
science obviously as we know all websites in North Korea are created by
the government but this is their real official word according to them the
website basically gives a description of the country in a positive light and it
also has various news articles and some tourist information as you can see their
latest news story is a test of a new rocket it also makes mention of Kim
jong-un many many times and it also has a news article about the South Korean
leader Park geun-hye was the president of South Korea from 2013 to 2017 we all
know South Korea is a democracy but on this side it calls the president a
dictator it also says she’s the worst human
rights abuser in the world that’s pretty rich coming from Kim jong-un North and
South Korea are sworn enemies and that’s why they have this
negative propaganda about South Korea on their website next up is news now let’s
look at North Korea’s biggest news web site this site can be accessed at KCNA
dot K P and that stands for the Korean Central News Agency as you can see every
image on this website is of Kim jong-un and his name also seems to feature in
every single headline they apparently have news on politics the economy
culture domestic news international news foreign relations north-south relations
and athletic news this website is actually the most visited North Korean
websites but a lot of the visits come from outside of North Korea many news
agencies that we know of such as Reuters and Associated Press work with KCNA
that’s because it gives to them unprecedented access to North Korea so
if you ever open up a web site or a newspaper and see an image from North
Korea it likely came from KCNA next up is spiritual guidelines this website is
very mysterious and it appears to be a set of spiritual guidelines you can see
it at GNU re pkp basically it talks about how they have to worship Kim
jong-un and his father Kim jong-il there’s also North Korean TV clips for
example farm inspections and rocket launches but it seems to be a sort of
religious or well-being group and the translation of the text at the top is
national unity coming up next is food have you ever been hungry and wanted to
try out some North Korean cuisine well luckily North Korea has a culinary
website with recipes you can follow at home you can see this ad cooks org dot
KP the website called Korean dishes has various different foods from North
Korean they have something called pickled cucumbers they also have a clear
stream tube and Pyongyang min yok they even say on their website that their
food is superior to any other countries on earth
I wonder what Italy and France would have to say
about that next up is airline have you ever wanted to fly into North Korea well
if you do you should visit air Koyuk on KP this is the website for the official
North Korean airline Air Koryo they apparently have offices in Beijing
Moscow Berlin Shanghai Kuala Lumpur Kuwait and more it also shows how you
can book a flight and plan a trip to North Korea however you’ll likely have
to fly to China first that’s because no flights go from Europe all the Americas
directly to North Korea instead you’ll need to fly to China first and then go
from there to North Korea you can actually get a return flight to North
Korea from 561 dollars however you will also have to purchase a tool from koryo
tools for another $1,000 that’s because you can’t just freely visit North Korea
you need to be in a guided tool next up is University
now most people in North Korea either work on farms or don’t have a job but a
very small minority of North Koreans do actually get to go to university well if
you go to our young nam sangil either ukp you can see the North Korean
University website this is the website for the kim ill sung university Kim
il-sung was the first-ever leader of North Korea and was Kim jong-un’s
grandfather you can see various pictures of the university such as their elibrary
central hall you can also see some news about North Korea and their University
for example an ode to their leader you can read up on some of the work they’ve
done for example a thesis on socialist education and also something called let
us step up the building of a thriving country by applying Kim Jong Speight
racism it seems the two courses you can do are social science and Natural
Science next up is elderly it seems North Korea has something for
everyone when it comes to their internet so if you’re old then you should check
out the core elec fund okay P this is the Korea elderly care fund which is a
charity for the elderly now this may well just be propaganda
and no money actually goes to elderly people but I’m not sure there appears to
be lots of news about Kim jong-un visiting nursing homes these different
areas for example how they spend their funds and if you want to sponsor an
elderly person in North Korea there’s even a web page which allows you to
donate to an elderly North Korean person if you like but I can’t promise it will
actually go into the pockets of an old person more than likely it will be used
to fund a new rocket launch next up is maritime if you’re interested in the
laws of the sea of North Korea you can check it out at this website simply go
to MH f dot KP there you can see the maritime administration of North Korea
you can check out ship data for any boat in North Korea by entering the ship’s
name you can also see things like ship safety laws of North Korea and you can
even check out sailors information by entering their name and date of birth
North Korea do all of their trade by sea and they’ve even been known to trade
illegal things before most countries have trade embargoes with North Korea
meaning you’re not allowed to trade with anyone inside North Korea got some how
Kim jong-un still drives around in Mercedes and Rolls Royces so clearly
somebody is breaking the rules next up is tours if you want to get the full
North Korean experience and get a tour then go to mth gov dot KP there you can
see the tour website for North Korea this is pretty much the site of the
Korean tourism board you can book a tour here and also get tourist information
next up is sports everyone loves sports and that includes
North Korea if you go to s DPRK dot or KP you can check out Sports Show Sun
Sports Chosun is the North Korean sports website here you can read up on North
Korean sports remember North Korea is actually included in the Olympic Games
they have information on their gymnastics and underwater gymnastic
and because much of North Korea is snowy mountains they’re also big into winter
sports they have lots of information about any gold medals that have been won
by North Koreans and they also have some info on their latest stadium they’ve
build which has 15,000 seats next up is film festival we all know big film
festivals for example the Cannes Film Festival but have you ever heard of the
Pyongyang International Film Festival if you haven’t then go to core film.com dot
KP and see the core films website core film is the movie studio of North Korea
there you can see some of their movies for example Bellflower and the flower
girl now even though it is called the 18th International Film Festival only
North Korean films are actually entered in and pretty much all of them are about
how great Kim jong-un is this is a pretty strange website as I really can’t
imagine anyone watching movies in North Korea after all they’re said to only be
one movie theater in the entire country next up is Insurance we all know big
insurance firms like Geico and State Farm but do people have insurance in
North Korea well according to their website the
answer is yes go to K&I Seekonk ap and see the Korean people total insurance
company this is the only insurance company in North Korea they have things
like forest insurance and marine insurance they also have fire insurance
in case your building sets on fire and they even have fruit crop insurance in
case any farmer gets a bad crop one year now I’m not sure if this is actually a
real insurance company that actually operates or not I guess you’d have to be
a North Korean to actually know the true thing next up is children’s travel in
North Korea there’s something called the Korean international youth and
children’s travel company you can see this by going to kiy CTC comm tot KP
this is a travel company for youth and children I’m not sure why kids need
their own travel company but I guess they do here you can see a tour guide
and also tourist resorts kids it’s not clear whether this is for
North Korean kids or for foreign kids to go to North Korea but personally I would
not want to send my children to North Korea and finally let’s look at the
education fund go to Korea D you fund okay P and C the Korean education fund
this appears to be a charity to increase the quality of North Korean education
there’s a weird graphic of some angelic children and there also seems to be
information about how they’re making improvements in education in the country
basically it’s talking about improving resources in schools and also making
sure that all schools have purified and safe water according to the website they
get 1,400 visitors every day but something tells me they’re multiplying
the number by a hundred as it seems to end in zero every single time check out
the poll the top right corner to vote for the strangest website in North Korea
I think it’s their social media site as it looks very weird and Bera if you guys
want some more amazing videos check out my second channel they’ll be linked to
that on screen in a moment but as always thanks for watching check out some more
videos on screen right now leave like if you enjoyed and if you haven’t already
