How to Backup Your Business Website – IMPORTANT!

Welcome to another eMediaCoach.com tutorial. Today, we’re going to show you how to back
up your business website, because in the unfortunate event that anything goes wrong with your website
or your hosting account, or you make any changes on your website, which affects it in ways
that you didn’t predict, you always need a way to revert to a backup copy. So, it’s always
important to keep a backup on your computer or an external hard drive. So, today we’ll
show you how to do that. When you signed up for your hosting account,
you will have received an e-mail with a login. It would’ve been a C Panel login. So, all
you need to do is go to your domainname.com/cpanel. We’ll use our eMediaCoach.com website as an
example for this tutorial. Go back to that e-mail notification received
from your hosting company, and enter your username and password in these fields below.
I’ll just pause while I do that. Then hit log in.
You’ll be taken to your hosting control panel. Scroll down and look for the backup wizard.
Hit back up. We want to make a full back up. This means it will back up your website’s
files as well as the databases. So, it’s a full back up including e-mails as well actually.
Then, select your back up destination. If unsure, leave it as home directory.
Confirm your e-mail address in this field here. Where it will notify you when the back
up is complete, and then click generate back up. Once this is done, the back up will actually
take some time to generate. So, I’ll pause the video here and come back to it in a few
minutes. There we go. So, I’ve refreshed the screen
just to check. It’s only been a couple of minutes.
Depending on the size of your website, the backup may take a few minutes or maybe half
an hour, and there it is there. All you need to do now is click on that, and then save
it onto your computer somewhere, and keep that back up handy because if anything happens
to your website, you will need to contact the hosting provider and provide them with
this back up copy, and they will be able to restore your website as it was.
So that’s all for today. Thank you for watching this tutorial. If you have any questions,
