Hi guys it’s Greg here with Rain Retail and in this video I’m going to show you how to increase your retail sales by getting more online reviews. If you’ve ever made a purchase based on the glowing review of another customer then you recognize the value of positive feedback for your business products and/or services. In fact statistics show that online reviews impact 67.7% of purchasing decisions. And 84 percent of people trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendation. So here are 4 super effective ways to get more online reviews to increase your retail sales. Number One: Ask in person. According to the digital marketing experts at marketing land, “There’s no better way to ask for and get reviews than to do it in person.” A person-to-person request is extremely effective especially if you spend a lot of time with the customer. Say for example you’re the owner of an auto parts manufacturer. You might spend an hour or more helping a customer select and customize the perfect brake pads for their vehicle. “What’s your point?” “The point is–” During that time you get to know each other and you enjoy talking about your families, hobbies, etc. In other words you’ve started building a relationship. At the end of the sale there’s no one better positioned to ask for a review than you. Number Two: Ask for reviews via email. “Nothing can make a customer feel quite as appreciated than receiving a personal email from the business owner.” says Thrive Hive. Select a handful of your best or most satisfied customers and send them a personal note thanking them for their business and asking for the review. Fashion your email like this one: Dear [first name of your customer] as one of our preferred customers your feedback is of the utmost importance to [insert the name of your business] we are constantly striving to provide the ideal experience for our customers and your input helps us to define that experience. That being said if you could take a minute to post a review on [add your review platform] we would so appreciate it. We hope to see you again soon. A sales follow-up strategy is a great way to not only boost your revenues by selling more to existing customers, but it’s also a great time to ask for reviews. Number Three: Claim your online business listings. Did you know that Yelp, which has more than 135 million unique monthly visitors and more than 71 million reviews, is the largest review site for local businesses. Sites like Yelp give customers an opportunity to leave reviews when they have a positive experience with your brand. You can also take advantage of industry specific directories like Angie’s List or TripAdvisor as long as they’re relevant to your business. Make it as convenient as possible for customers to leave reviews on these directories. The experts over at Forbes recommend even placing a yelp badge on your website or adding a Yelp link in your email signature, contact forms, and/or newsletter. Number Four: Acquire reviews via a company-wide initiative. For some businesses accumulating reviews can be a very slow process until it’s adopted as an organizational initiative. Some effective strategies for making reviews a priority across your organization include One: Starting at the top. Managers should be communicating the importance of acquiring reviews with the rest of the company. Two: Training employees how to ask for reviews. And Three: Providing incentives for company departments that get the best online reviews. Getting the whole company behind your online reviews initiative will really get the ball rolling. So remember to take the time to keep your customer reviews a top priority for your business. Doing so will not only give your products and services the ever so valuable social proof they need but will also increase your organic search ranking with all the major search engines.
