Russian nuclear reactor explosion shrouded in mystery

MELISSA? MELISSA: THANK YOU FOR THAT, JENNIFER. JOINING TO US GET HIS TAKE ON ALL OF THIS IS RETIRED ARMY GENERAL JACK KEANE. HE IS A FOX NEWS SENIOR STRATEGIC ANALYST. GENERAL, THANK YOU FOR JOINING US. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS EXPLOSION?>>WELL, THE RUSSIANS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR HAVING BELOW STANDARDS IN TERMS OF SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE. AND THEY CLEARLY HAVE GREAT SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS, AND THEY’VE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO DEVELOP ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS, AND THAT’S CLEARLY WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO DO HERE, BUT THEY’VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS SYSTEM IN THE PAST, AND FOR OUR VIEWERS TO UNDERSTAND, IF YOU CAN PUT A SMALL NUCLEAR REACTOR IN A CRUISE MISSILE, THEN YOU HAVE ACTUALLY TAKEN AWAY THE RESTRICTION OF RANGE, AND IT CAN CIRCUMNAVIGATE ANY PLACE ON THE GLOBE, AND IT PROVIDES A HUGE ADVANTAGE TO SOMEBODY WHO OWNS THAT WEAPONS SYSTEM. SO THAT’S WHAT IS AT STAKE HERE. MOST OF OUR SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS ARE QUITE SKEPTICAL ABOUT THE ABILITY TO ACHIEVE THIS KIND OF NEW TECHNOLOGY BREAKTHROUGH. MELISSA: YEAH, I MEAN, THEY PUT OUT A VIDEO EARLIER THAT WE LATER DETERMINED WAS DOCTORED SAYING THEY HAD THIS TECHNOLOGY, AND AT THE TIME, YOU KNOW, FOLKS WERE SKEPTICAL. WHAT DOES THIS EXPLOSION TELL YOU ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THEY EVER HAD THAT WEAPONS CAPABILITY OR, YOU KNOW, WHAT DOES IT MEAN IN THAT SENSE?>>WELL, THEY NEVER HAD THE CAPABILITY. THAT WAS A COMPUTER-GENERATED VIDEO, HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH ACTUAL REALITY, AND IT WAS ASPIRATIONAL TO BE SURE, AND IT WAS DONE IN CONCERT WITH PUTIN’S STATE OF THE UNION, AND INTERESTING ENOUGH, AS THIS MISSILE WAS CIRCUMNAVIGATING PART OF THE GLOBE, IT FOUND ITSELF INTO FLORIDA AS ITS ULTIMATE DESTINATION. THERE’S A LOT OF HUBRIS SURROUNDING ALL OF THAT. I THINK PUTIN CLEARLY OVERSELLING THE TECHNOLOGY THAT IS STILL IN ITS ASPIRATIONAL STAGES. MELISSA: A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK WHEN THEY HEAR OF THIS ACCIDENT. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE FALLOUT OF THIS?>>THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE. RECENTLY ONE OF THE MUNITIONS PLANT BLEW UP. THEY LOST ONE PERSON, 14, 15 OTHERS EVACUATED. THIS WAS A WEEK OR SO AGO AND 16,000 PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED AND THEN LAST MONTH, THEY HAD A FIRE ON A NUCLEAR-POWERED SUBMARINE AND 14 SAILORS WERE KILLED. BACK IN 2000, WE KNOW THEY LOST NUCLEAR POWER TO AN UNDERWATER EXPLOSION AND THE ENTIRE CREW HAS PERISHED. THEY HAVE ISSUES. AS YOU MENTIONED, THERE ARE NOTABLE ONES. THEY DON’T ABIDE BY INTERNATIONAL SAFETY STANDARDS. THE UNITED STATES SETS THE STANDARD WHEN IT COMES TO NUCLEAR POWER SAFETY STANDARDS. MELISSA: CAN I ASK YOU REAL QUICK BEFORE WE RUN OUT OF TIME. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THE PROTESTS THAT WE’RE SEEING THAT ARE GOING ON IN RUSSIA? YOU KNOW, DOES PUTIN HAVE THE IRON GRIP THAT WE THINK HE DOES? WE’RE SHOWING SOME VIDEO OF IT RIGHT HERE NOW. HE CELEBRATED 20 YEARS IN POWER LAST WEEK. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THE PROTESTS? BIG DEAL OR NOT A BIG DEAL?>>I THINK IT IS A VERY BIG DEAL. OBVIOUSLY PUTIN IS AN AUTHORITARIAN. HE RUNS A REPRESSIVE REGIME. HE CONDUCTS A MASSIVE INFORMATION CAMPAIGN AGAINST HIS OWN PEOPLE, TRYING TO MAKE — APPEAR THAT LIFE IS BETTER THAN WHAT IT IS, BLAMING THE UNITED STATES FOR EVERY PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE, AND HERE WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE UPSET ABOUT IS HE’S DENYING OPPOSITION POLITICIANS THE RIGHT TO RUN FOR THE CITY COUNCIL IN MOSCOW. AS HE HAS DONE IN OTHER LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS. THERE’S BEEN PROTESTS ALSO IN OTHER CITIES IN SUPPORT OF THIS, AND THIS IS THE FIFTH PROTEST THAT’S TAKEN PLACE IN MOSCOW. WHAT THEY HAVE DONE, AND WE DON’T HAVE A LOT OF VIDEO ON IT, IS THEY HAVE VICIOUSLY BEAT BACK THESE PROTESTS. THEY HAVE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF POLICE IN MASS WITH BATONS BEATING BACK THESE PROTESTERS. THEY’RE ALSO GOING INTO THEIR HOMES AND ARRESTING THEM. THEY’VE GOT HUNDREDS OF THEM IN THE JAILHOUSES, AND THEYRE GAVING THEM IN SOME CASES EIGHT-YEAR SENTENCES FOR CONDUCTING — GIVING THEM IN SOME CASES EIGHT-YEAR SENTENCES FOR CONDUCTING WHATEVER WHO HAS OBSERVED IT HAS SAID IT’S BEEN A PEACEFUL CIVIL PROTEST ON THE PART OF THE DEMONSTRATORS. MELISSA: WOW, SOMETHING TO WATCH FOR SURE.

  1. Nuclear power hahaha that’s a Scottish knee slapper but this old dude been watching to many cartoons a reactor in a missile lol it can fly all over the world lol keep dreaming old man

  2. Russian ocean vessels are a mess below decks, the piping is a spider web tangled between oil and electrical. If their facilities are like that it's no wonder everything is exploding a mile high. Have some vodka a flip the switch, give it the old "smoke test".

  3. Chernobyl was kept quiet for days. Couldn't believe it when it popped. Lapland reindeer was off the menu at Piccolo Mondo.😨

  4. Don't worry America, our dear leader is very good friends with President Putin! We have nothing to worry about!

  5. This a very strange report on the explosion. The title of the video says that they will inform us on the explosion while the guy in the video goes the distance at trying to convince watchers of the weakness of Russia's nuclear tests. It doesn't sound very informal at all. It's mainly his opinion. And what's this about a doctored video?

  6. The guest is moronic and the lady is not even trying. A nuclear reactor just blew up and the guest is all thathathathatha missiles they got missiles omg the missiles did you know about the missiles well they got um the missiles I mean did you not hear me I said missiles

  7. This was computer generated video he said.. Were did this story comes from…..?
Sorry i cant read Russian sign.

  8. I venture to say that all these uprisings around the world are the NWO/Elites flexing their muscles and until they get out of wanting to own the world these things will go on

  9. Russia is a corrupted nation because of the low standards of Russian politicians, and it’s miserable that Trump is Putin’s butt buddy.

  10. Well that's what happens when you steal somebody else's science and try to make it your own for those who don't know Russia stole nuclear technology from America

  11. And these idiots are about to launch a floating nuclear power plant in the Arctic? Moscow has got to have the most irresponsible government on the planet, and, yes, they even top the U.S. government. That says it all.

  12. wow, so much "insight, or just more RED SCARE MCCARTHYISM; PROPAGANDA compliments of the SMITH-MUNDTZ MODERNIZATION ACT of 2012.

  13. And this Trump administration with all of its deregulation and criminal enterprises the US will probably have a Chernobyl or two…

  14. Heard through the grapevine..Russian's were warned day's ago to double up on Iodine and potassium …and here ya go..Deep State Acting Up Again?..hmm

  15. wow so the most powerful country in the world in terms of nuclear reactors, has a lack of standards for safety and maintenance

  16. Well guys I guess I get to be one of the first in America to start my IRL Fallout adventure. I'll probably be a ghoul who gives you a side mission from Florida.

  17. It's a nuclear powered cruse missile. Only a small minded person would use this as a weapon instead of a way to explore space. Seriously, We have had ICBMS that can reach other continents and submarines that can launch nuclear missiles right off the coast for decades. Stealth tech and and every other tech has rendered a nuclear war as unwinnable. Every war game since the 1980's has the same outcome. M.A.D.

  18. Maybe Russia wants to get to Mars before us? If a nuclear powered missile would have an unlimited global range, how about a nuclear powered rocket to put humans anywhere in the solar system?

  19. Look I don't agree with the Russian government on many things but if there is nuclear fall out we should do what we can to save as many civilians as possible. In the future of human space travel there could have many set backs and tragedies as we discover more opportunities. With that Being said Russia should reach out to the U.S to try to minimize civilian casualties and Visa versa if we should ever need it. IM confident that we are strong but I am also confident that we should lead the world through example and nothing else. Governments are gonna pursue whatever they want but when it comes to nuclear threats we should all lend a hand until it could be more understood and controllable. Best of luck to you Russian citizens
that could be affected by this unfortunate incident. Be safe please.
