Whitman: Retail Management


The landscape of retail management and fashion merchandizing is evolving at a warp speed and the need for retail management professionals has never been greater Whitman’s retail management program provides a strong theoretical business base to ensure students are ready to enter the fields of buying, planning, product development, sales marketing, or store management I chose to be a retail management major because I really wanted to be on the business side of fashion. I’m very interested in learning how consumers purchase their products and being on the side of selecting what consumers and being on the side of selecting what consumers want to purchase Whitman’s retail management enjoys support and guidance from the high profile retail advisory board whose membership includes senior executives from Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Ross Stores Lord &Taylor, and Kohl’s Many retail majors also double major in marketing or add a concentration in digital retail strategy through a new program with SU’s iSchool as a retail management major you will participate in a variety of learning opportunities outside of the classroom. I interned at JC Penney in store this past summer and it was a ten week rotational program every week I had different in-store operations to do and learn about the entire industry as a whole After graduation, I will be doing buying and planning at Lord & Taylor Whitman’s retail management majors find jobs at leading brands, including Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Target.
